One of my fave funk-soul tunes ever is The Chi-Lites’ Are You My Woman? It’s thunderous horn riff is beefy enough to make a stock with… and that FONK! Damn! It’s catchier than a dose of the bubonics! So imagine my surprise a while back when I hear that distinctive rasp blurting outta a radio speaker. “What? The Chi-Lites on Radio One?” Uh-oh Uh-oh Uh-oh… As it turned out Jay-Z and Beyonce lifted the track wholesale to create a remarkable piece-o-pop which set girls scurrying to the nearest dancefloor… Crazy In Love? Getouttahere!
