blurrrr That Blur reunion youre hoping for is incredibly unlikelyIf you’ve never seen Blur live, then chances are you won’t ever (but never say never unless you’re saying ‘never say never’.) What am I talking about? Well, if you give me a minute, I’ll tell you that, aside from the various side projects of Damon Albarn and the various activities of the rest of ‘em, Albarn has claimed that the rest of the band hate him.
The pop warbler admitted that he met up with all the band recently, but insists he won’t reform the group because he “doesn’t need the money”. Damo said: “I had dinner with the guys recently and it was a laugh but there’s no way they want to work with me again - they all hate me. A reunion is not going to happen. The only reason people would do it is for the money - but I don’t need the money.”

Alex James said earlier this week that Albarn was the only stumbling block preventing them getting it back on. However, Damon disagrees, saying, “Alex is writing books and making cheese and Dave’s moving into politics. I’ve always said if you want to be a musician you have to dedicate yourself to it and do it every day.” So, apart from more Gorillaz LPs, expect an “Arabic dancehall” project from Albarn (no, seriously).
Not only that, former Blur noisemaker Graham Coxon is working on a new LP, which is, gulp, a concept album. He said: “It’s about a man who is born in, um, possibly the fifties. Grows up, meets a girl, gets married, then has to go to war and gets really knackered up and then has a divorce and then goes mad and then…er…dies and goes to heaven.”
But what of Blur? Well, according to Coxon, he would be “happy” if a Blur reunion never happened. [via DS]
