iketurner Stories about old / dead people we should probably mention: Led Zeppelin, Ike Turner, Iron Maiden, John Lennons hair - A man called Ike Turner died. Ike (seen attempting to eat a Grammy, right) was a legendary wife-beater whose contribution to music was somewhat overshadowed by this fact. But if people can lionise convicted sexual abuser Tupac Shakur, it’s probably only fair to mention that Ike was, along with his erstwhile missus Tina, responsible for some searing pop moments including “River Deep Mountain High” and “Nutbush City Limits”. - A little band called Led Zeppelin played a concert the other night. The living members did, anyway - the one who died many years ago was unavailable. There was lots of excitement about this - some positive, some negative. Lots of famous people went to watch them. Lots of people who paid a shitload for tickets went along as well. You probably won’t be surprised to hear that this charity one-off show has led to a boost in Led Zep record sales and talk of more shows, and indeed a world tour.

- A band called Iron Maiden are sticking with their record label. This is the record label that recently lost Radiohead, so they’re probably quite chuffed.
- A bit of hair from the head of John Lennon was bought by a presumably disturbed individual for the grand sum of £24,000. John Lennon was in a band called The Beatles many years ago, before someone who liked him very much shot him to death. The hair originates from several years before this sad event however, in case you were thinking “that coroner is really cashing in.”
