Here at MCT we suspected it was all getting a little bit cosy up there in the Sheffield pop-rock scene. Now we’ve had it confirmed… Arctic Monkeys’ (or Artic Monkeys, according to Q Awards engravers) frontman Alex Turner has shacked up with Reverend and the Makers lead singer Jon McClure. Do you think they cosy up on the sofa to watch Jools Holland of an evening with a cup of cocoa?
The NME reports that Jon revealed to the BBC how he’d finally persuaded Alex to leave the safety of his parents’ house. But he says just because they’re sharing milk, doesn’t mean there’s been some inter-band bonding.

Says McClure: “There ends the connection, apart from the fact me and Alex live together. I feel more of an affinity with Manu Chao and modern day rebels, really. Ojos de Brujo, Ian Brown, 3D from Massive Attack, the Dixie Chicks. I feel more akin to those people than I do the Arctic Monkeys.”
This isn’t the first time the bands have been intrinsically linked. This time last year, Jon’s brother Chris appeared on the cover of Arctic Monkeys’ massive first album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’. Jon suggested his brother after he turned down a request from the band to be the cover star himself, but says nowadays Chris gets stopped in the street more than any of them.
