Sex Pistols tickets flood eBay while NME launches pointless campaign to get them to number one
With crushing inevitability, Sex Pistols tickets are going on eBay for up to £36,000,000. OK, not really - the highest price to be seen at the time of writing is £215. Pretty steep, but then the Pistols did just add two new Brixton dates to their November comeback after the first sold out in ten minutes - except the new dates, at the same venue, cost twice as much. While the first date was going for £37, the new dates cost £85. There are clearly some affluent punks out there.
Meanwhile, NME - that’s the NEW Musical Express - is launching a campaign to get the Pistols’ “God Save The Queen” to number one thirty years after it hit number two, and about five years after a number one single ceased to really mean anything. Still, it’s all filthy lucre for the Pistols, right?
