Pulled Apart By Horses will gallop through your earsandbrain

Can You Gig It?, Up-And-Coming Acts, Video

Thumbnail image for pulled_apart_by_horses_levis.jpgI went to the latest Levi’s Ones To Watch show the other night. While London’s Trendy Old Blue Lastâ„¢ is more used to hosting be-fringed dandies doing jangly things, this particular eve was all about the ROCK with a capital ROCK.
Sub-Soundgarden noobs Muswell and scuzz-rock hot tips To The Bones bookended the night, but I was most impressed with Pulled Apart By Horses (frontman Tom Hudson, left - click image to enlarge).
I mean come on, they have a song called “I Punched A Lion In The Throat”. There are elements of the four-piece that aren’t about violence involving animals, but this beastly imagery does give a decent idea of the racket they make onstage.

They’re pretty animated as well, with each band member jerking about all over the place alongside the odd climb onto drum sets and the like. If you’re a headachy person they may not be for you, it’s fair to say.
However, if you enjoy punky art-rock that makes you grind your teeth a bit, Pulled Apart By Horses could very well be up your street. There’s a sense of fun in their live show you might not expect, too - none of the po-faced seriousness you can encounter amongst rock types.
Check them out having a simply splendid time during “Meat Balloon” below. Check out their MySpace here.

Just found this while searching and am pleasantly surprised that our tastes have finally crossed paths. PS, I’ve also seen the error of my Hoosier-based ways and recognised my previous affections for what they really were - 118 tache envy.
