Either that, or she found one hell of a wishbone in her dinner recently.
OK, so she still faces a wee bit of hassle for drivng without a California licence, and then there’s the whole pesky custody thing… Um, but she’s had the more serious charge of hit-and-run dropped, at least. How come? Well, she “compensated” the victim of the crime. Of course.
Maybe she compensated him / her with a copy of her latest album. Following Popjustice’s rave review on Monday, The Guardian today has a gleaming review of Blackout, while she even appears in the leader of the paper - “In Praise of… Britney Spears”, no less. Idolator, meanwhile, yesterday did a round-up of mostly positive reviews from US papers and websites.

Notable by their absence on the new record, apparently, are warblesome ballads, which can only be a good move. Nobody would buy that “I’m not yet a woman” crap these days. The Guardian does mention that her lustful lyrics have the unfortunate side effect of making her sound slightly deranged, but, alongside a set of songs that have been described as “risk-taking” in several quarters, that surely just adds to the deliciously entertaining (although often disturbing) spectacle that Britney’s career has become.
Will the new record mean more “intriguing” public performances? I can’t help but hope so…
