waynecoyne Festivals round up: Latitude and Indian Summer brighten rather than dampen spirits, problems mar Guilfest, Marilyn Manson footage from Download- A speaker stack collapsed at Guilfest on Friday, and the comments below this story suggest that while the festival was designed to be mud-free there are other mucky elements they need to look at sorting out
- Observer Music Monthly has a focus on a few of the big events that have taken place this year. Glastonbury this year was “amazing”, according to Emily Eavis (but then she would say that, wouldn’t she?). Also interviewed are Damon Albarn and Johnny Borrell
- Latitude’s growing reputation won’t have been harmed by - whaaaat?? - good weather. CSS were among the many acts who impressed Uncut.co.uk (who are one of the festival’s sponsors)

- Not one, but two festivals enjoyed the sunshine this weekend. Indian Summer in Glasgow stayed dry and to top it off had The Flaming Lips closing the show - it doesn’t get much better than that
- A young man from the CBBC Newsround site went to Download last month, bless him. He even made some money collecting discarded cups. Child labour is alive and well, hurrah!
- Meanwhile Blabbermouth reports that professionally filmed footage of Mazza Manson at Download has materialised on YouTube
- A preview of this coming weekend’s Lovebox Weekender can be found at musicOMH.com. Headliners this year include Sly and The Family Stone and Super Furry Animals. If two such masters of sunkissed psychedelia can’t beckon the sun, something’s gone wrong somewhere (tempting fate much?)
- One enterprising individual decided to install a carbonite Han Solo at Glasto this year (kind of). You can read about “Caution Carbonite Footprint” (geddit?) here (includes video link showing how it’s done, should you be inclined to try something similar)
