airtraf Air Traffic get Belgian awards nomination after one gig
The quite brilliant Bournemouth boys Air Traffic have been nominated for a prestigious Belgian award despite having played only one gig in the country.
The TMF Awards, which happen next month, are massive – the equivalent of the MTV Europe Music Awards or The BRITs here in the UK. Air Traffic are up for Best New International Artist and will be jetting in especially to perform at the ceremony on October 13th in Hakkelt.

Amazingly, just one performance in Belgium – at June’s Rock Werchter Festival - snagged them the nomination. Lead singer Chris told me: “It’s incredible. We’re thrilled to be nominated, and a little bit scared about performing at such a big event. When we played the festival we were amazed to see 5,000 people had turned up to watch us. The Belgian fans are brilliant!”
The boys have pleased foreign fans by announcing some European tourdates, including a stop in Belgium, next month. Find out more at their official website. And if you’re a fan, vote for them to beat Mika and 30 Seconds To Mars to the TMF award here.
